Balancing Business, Marriage & a Newborn: Five Lessons in Building a Lasting Entrepreneurial Legacy with Brandon Gamble, CEO of  Pallet Pros and Pallet Pros Academy

Running a business is hard enough. Running two businesses under one roof while raising a five-month-old? That takes grit, love, and vision.

In the new episode of the Product & Packaging Powerhouse Podcast, I sat down with my husband, Brandon Gamble, CEO of  Pallet Pros and Pallet Pros Academy to talk about the “beautiful chaos” of family entrepreneurship. Together, we opened up about what it really takes to balance work and family while creating something that lasts beyond us.

Here are five lessons we want every entrepreneur to hear.

1. Beautiful Chaos Is Part of the Journey

When you’re raising a newborn and managing two companies, there’s no such thing as a perfectly planned day. Some mornings we’re on calls while juggling diapers, and some nights we’re answering client emails on very little sleep. But we’ve learned that chaos doesn’t mean failure. In fact, embracing it can be liberating. The reality of balancing work and family is that it’s messy, unpredictable, and still worth it. For us, “beautiful chaos” is a reminder that family entrepreneurship comes with challenges, but also with rewards that make the journey meaningful.

2. Legacy Is More Than Profit 

Too often, entrepreneurs think about legacy only in financial terms. But business legacy goes far deeper. Brandon defines legacy as building something that continues to operate and inspire even after we’re gone. That could mean creating jobs, mentoring future entrepreneurs, or instilling values in our daughter that will guide her no matter what path she chooses. Profit margins matter, but sustainable business growth is about impact and continuity, leaving behind systems, values, and community ties that stand the test of time.

3. Networks Make the Business Stronger 

One of the most powerful lessons we’ve learned is that no business thrives in isolation. Brandon has built Pallet Pros on strong vendor relationships, people he trusts to deliver quality and consistency. On my side at GLC, I see how packaging and logistics rely heavily on partnerships with suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers. Without reliable networks, businesses are vulnerable to disruptions. Strong business partnerships don’t just provide backup when things get tough; they also open doors to new opportunities, ideas, and long-term growth.

4. Consistency Is the Secret Ingredient 

If you ask Brandon what advice he’d give to someone entering the pallet industry, his answer is simple: consistency. The truth is, whether you’re building a distribution business or managing packaging projects, short-term wins won’t sustain you. It’s showing up every day, delivering on promises, and improving processes that create results. Consistency in business builds trust with customers, strengthens teams, and helps weather the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. Without it, even the best ideas lose momentum before they have a chance to grow.

5.  Family Is the Real Legacy

At the end of the day, the reason we keep going is not just for our businesses,  it’s for our family. Our daughter may or may not take over Pallet Pros or GLC, but she will grow up knowing that her parents built something from scratch while keeping her at the center of it all. That’s the true meaning of family entrepreneurship: showing that family and business don’t have to compete, but can strengthen one another. For us, the most important business legacy we can leave behind is the example that love, perseverance, and vision can coexist with success.
